The 2016 Bergström Vineyard Pinot Noir is a bright and crystalline ruby red in color with violet reflections. This Pinot Noir has fantastic heady aromas of whole cluster fermentation (dried herbs, incense, rare woods, citrus oils, violet pastilles and raspberry candies.) The fruit profile is classic for this vineyard which is reminiscent of the cherry trees, raspberries and blackberries that have taken over the fence lines. Aromas of scorched red earth, smoked meats, olive, peppers and sun dried tomatoes makes me think of pizza and will make you want to smell this wine for an hour before tasting it. The flavors are bright and taught and multi-layered with a fine tannic structure. This is a serious effort which should age very well having the salinity and savory that I look for without compromising the sweet floral and fresh fruit aromas native to this site. This wine is very dark and juicy and will be hard to resist but I recommend waiting. Drink 2019- 2035+
