Appearance: Full gold. Vintage champagne. Aroma: A distinctly medicinal aroma - carbolic, coal tar soap - on a fresh maritime base of salt air, iodine and seaweed. All these aromas become milder with a drop of water, and now there is a suggestion of vanilla toffee and soot. Taste: Light texture. Sweet and lightly salty, with a smoky/medicinal finish. An aftertaste of bonfire smoke. Sweet basil note. Comment: This would be taken for an Islay malt, although it is lighter in body than any of them and is 'better mannered'. More-ish. Light, elegant & smoky.
